Wiimote Setup Guide (Windows XP)
This guide explains how to connect your Wiimote to your PC via Bluetooth.

This is the Windows XP guide. If you don't use Windows XP, you might try the Wiimote Setup Guide for Windows Vista.
We assume you have Bluetooth already installed and working on your PC.
Required hardware/software:
  • Wiimote
  • Bluetooth Wireless Adapter
  • Windows XP
I have used a Wiimote on both XP and Vista with very little trouble. It may work on other operating systems as well, but I haven't personally tested them.
Step 1
Bluetooth Setup Wizard
Right-click on the Bluetooth icon in your taskbar and click on "Bluetooth Setup Wizard".

XP Step 1
Bluetooth Setup
Step 2
Select the second option, then push the [1] and [2] buttons on the Wiimote simultaneously. This puts the Wiimote into "discoverable" mode. Click the "Next" button after the blue LED lights begin to flash on the Wiimote.

XP Step 2
Searching for Devices
Step 3
The Device Wizard will begin searching for Bluetooth devices. The Wiimote must be in "discoverable" mode during this step.

XP Step 3
Device Found
Step 4
Click on the "Nintendo RVL-CNT-01" device to select it then click the "Next" button. You can also double-click the device's icon.

XP Step 4
Skip Pairing
Step 5
Wait for your Wiimote lights to quit flashing, then put it back into "discoverable" mode before clicking the "Skip Pairing" button.

XP Step 5
Service Selection
Final Step
After the device appears one last time, make sure it is selected, and click "Finish". Be sure the Wiimote is still in "discoverable" mode before doing this.

XP Step 6
All done!
Connectivity Check
If setup was successful, your Bluetooth taskbar icon should fill in with a bright green color, indicating your connection to the Wiimote was successful and you are still connected. If you already have other Bluetooth devices connected, it may already be green. Now you're ready to move on to using GlovePIE, an application that can communicate with the Wiimote.
